Marine Trades Workshop

Hands-on 4-session introduction to essential marine trades in our family shop where we've been building and repairing boats for decades.


Four Core Trades:

  • Electrical Systems & Electronics

  • Engine Mechanics (Gas & Diesel)


Build Real-World Skills - Every project uses professional tools and techniques from actual marine industry work

General Questions


  • Who can enroll in Native Marine Adventures programs?

    Our programs are open to middle and high school students of all experience levels. Whether your child is new to boating or has prior experience, we offer classes suited to their skill level.

  • What days and times are programs offered?

    Boat Classes: Monday & Tuesday, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM


    Shop Classes: Wednesday, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

  • How long do the programs last?

    Each program runs for 4 weeks, with students attending one day per week (4 sessions total).

  • Where are the classes held?

    We operate in Jupiter, Florida, at the following locations:

    Boat Classes:

    • Spring/Summer: Waterway Park
    • Fall/Winter: Burt Reynolds Boat Ramp

    Shop Classes: Jupiter Farms Shop

  • Do you accept the Step Up Scholarship?

    Yes. We are approved for the Step Up scholarship program to help make marine education more accessible.


Pricing & Registration


  • How much do the programs cost?

    Shop Classes (Marine Trades Workshop): $300/month


    Boat Classes (Boating Safety & Operations): $500/month


    Certification Courses: Pricing varies by certification. Some certifications may be included in the Boat Class if enrollment allows.

  • What is included in the program fee?

    Program fees include instruction and use of equipment. There is an additional fee for the Florida Boater ID card and for certification materials or exams.

  • Are there any additional costs?

    Some Shop Classes may have a material fee depending on the project.

  • What is your cancellation or refund policy?

    Please contact us in advance for cancellations or refund requests. We’ll do our best to accommodate and resolve any scheduling issues.

  • Can my child enroll in multiple programs at once?

    Yes, absolutely!


Program Details


  • What should my child bring to class?

    We offer morning sessions (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM) and afternoon sessions (1:00 PM - 5:00 PM), Monday through Friday. Choose whichever works best for your family's schedule.

  • What type of boat is used for the boating programs?

    Yes! Many students benefit from combining both shop and boat classes. Contact me to discuss scheduling options for multiple programs.

  • Do students need any prior experience?

    Contact me to discuss next steps. Students can repeat programs to build advanced skills, pursue certifications, or wait for our upcoming Marine Adventures program.

  • What happens if there’s bad weather?

    In poor weather, we’ll remain in the Intracoastal Waterway or work at the shop on vessel maintenance and systems training.


Marine Trades Workshop


  • Are the shop classes hands-on?

    Yes. Students gain real-world skills through hands-on projects in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanics.

  • What is the Florida Boater Safety ID Card?

    It is required for anyone born after January 1, 1988, who operates a motorized vessel of 10 horsepower or more in Florida.

  • Will my child be operating the boat themselves?

    Students operate vessels only under direct supervision.

  • What navigation skills are taught?

    The program covers navigation rules, chart reading, weather awareness, docking, knot-tying, and boat handling.


Diving Programs


  • What diving certifications do you offer?

    We offer the full range of PADI and skin diving certifications, including:

    • Skin Diver
    • Discover Scuba
    • Open Water Diver
    • Advanced Open Water Diver
    • Rescue Diver
    • Master Scuba Diver
    • Divemaster
  • What equipment is needed for diving programs?

    Yes. Our certifications are recognized nationally and internationally by industry professionals and governing bodies.

  • Can my child get certified in freediving

    Yes. Freediving certifications are available through our diving programs.


Safety & Requirements


  • What safety measures are in place?

    Safety equipment includes life jackets, an EPIRB, SOS beacon, and VHF distress radio. Emergency procedures are reviewed before each departure.

  • Do students need to know how to swim?

    Yes! Many students benefit from combining both shop and boat classes. Contact me to discuss scheduling options for multiple programs.


Certifications


  • Will my child receive a certification upon completion?

    Yes. Students can earn certifications such as:

    • Florida Boater Safety ID Card
    • PADI diving certifications
    • CPR and First Responder certifications
    • Additional certifications depending on the program
  • Are the certifications nationally recognized?

    Yes. Our certifications are recognized nationally and internationally by industry professionals and governing bodies.

  • Can my child work toward multiple certifications?

    Yes. Students may pursue multiple certifications, including PADI diving, safety, and boating credentials.
